About PIBT
Sri Lanka’s partner campus of the University of Greenwich, UK
PIBT (Pioneer Institute of Business and Technology) was founded in 2003 in Colombo and has been the University of Greenwich’s partner campus in Sri Lanka since 2005. Working across the School of Law, School of Business, School of Computing & IT, and School of Engineering, PIBT has produced over 6,000 graduates, all internal University of Greenwich degree holders, employed across Sri Lanka, the UK, Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
Founded in 2003, built on a Greenwich partnership since 2005
PIBT was established in 2003 as a private higher education institution in Colombo. In 2005, PIBT became the University of Greenwich’s partner campus in Sri Lanka, a relationship that has since shaped every programme PIBT offers. Every PIBT qualification is an internal University of Greenwich degree: examined and awarded to the same standard as Greenwich’s own campus in London.
Since then, PIBT has grown from its original offering into four schools: Law, Business, Computing & IT, and Engineering, spanning undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral study, alongside Higher National Diplomas and professional certifications. Because PIBT’s students are largely working professionals, every programme is delivered on weekends, so a UK degree fits around a career rather than replacing it.
